I went out shopping yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see others were shopping too. I went to my local mall, Target, and the grocery store. At all places, there was limited parking and people were buying! Target was especially busy. There were only 3 shopping carts available and most people at the check-out had full carts. It made me feel really good to be out shopping and to others shopping.
I don’t why people were out, but I do know for myself I’m tired of denying myself. Granted I don’t have as much money as I did when I was employed, but I think it’s okay to spend a little as long as I stay within my means. Perhaps others feel this way too. I’m, also, worried if I don’t shop or eat out, the stores and restaurants I like may go out of business, so I’m doing what I can.
I was bored in Java class tonight — the instructor was tying up loose ends and spending a lot of time dinking on his laptop, so wrote some really bad short poems. Then I thought it would be a challenge to write poems short enough to Twitter (less than 140 chars), so I decided to take on the challenge. There’s a feed in the right side bar. Hahaha!!! Pretty stupid isn’t it! Oh, the pointlessness of “Web 2.0.”
Bi-partisanship: Both parties participate, but they don’t have to agree. Indeed, they can agree to disagree. In the end, though, a decision has to be made and those who own the decision must take responsibility. I don’t like group think, so I think it’s fine for folks to agree to disagree, but I’m not enchanted by the idea of people acting in malice — “If I don’t control the decision, then I hope the plan fails.” To want your own country to fail and President to fail is unpatriotic and to plot the failure of your country and your President is treasonous. I hope those politicians and pundits out there come to this realization and get their act together and put whatever selfish desires they have aside for the good of the country. I hope the politicians remember that the voting public puts them in office and can vote them out. These are the only people they are beholden to rather than some talk radio “entertainers” (yes, they are ENTERTAINMENT) and the few people with money. I’m not a fan of the stimulus plan, but I do want my country to succeed, so I’m praying and I will do everything in my power to do what I can to help my country out of this mess.
Well, I finally did it! I completely re-did my personal website. I used Dreamweaver and all the fancy new tricks I just learned in the class I am taking. I also learned how to use the new Adobe website tool, “Fireworks.” It’s a tool that should be apart of Dreamweaver that can be used to mock up website graphics really fast. Other tools I used were Illustrator for the title graphics and the flowers in the menu bar, Flash to generate the graphics for the menu and to create all of the galleries, and Fireworks for the content graphics. I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out :). I’m so proud of myself. I feel now I can take on any personal or small business advertising website design assignment. Now onto expanding my knowledge of javascript and some server side scripting so I can start putting together more complete solutions. Anyhow, check it out!
