Tried WOW, Now Trying Warhammer

I finally decided to try playing World of Warcraft and I didn’t like it.  I made a female Paladin and set off for adventure.  So basically you walk up to something and right-click on them and sit back as your character and the opponent whack at each other.  Okay … so then I leveled up some and there seemed to be no way to manage my character’s development.  My husband informed me that character development doesn’t come into gameplay until I reach the 10th level and that until then the game is teaching me the interface.  Sigh … give me a break!

So, I’ve decided to try the new MMORPG on the block, Warhammer Online.  It’s slowly downloading after several attempts.  It turns out that you have to turn off all other background processes before the downloader will work … sigh … +10GB … sigh … it should be done sometime this afternoon, barring any freezes of the downloader or our internet connection.

Taken in by the News

As fatiqued as I am with the economy and the election, I find myself taken in by the news.  It’s sad to think that If I just kept the radio off, didn’t turn on the TV, or check the CNN webpage, I wouldn’t have a clue that anything is wrong and would be happily going on with my life.  But I’m hooked and I can’t wait to see what going to happen next.

It’s clear to me that the American people are angry and that many people don’t understand how this involves them and why this impacts them. Continue reading Taken in by the News

Sheep Progress

I worked some more on the sheep body and face tonight.  I want to give the sheep a pink muzzle, but I can’t see the shape clearly in my mind yet.  I also put in a place holder for the eye.  I will also create a forward facing head too.  Tomorrow I will spend some time refining the legs and hopefully finish the muzzle — oh, and add ears.  Here’s what the sheep looks like today.  I used lots of circles to build the bumpy fur.  I also found some references on Google images to help me with head placement.  My sheep is kinda plump, but I like it that way.

Yikes, there’s a dangling construction piece!  Mr. Kuroneko003 says the horns look like a football helmet.  I think they are cute even though real sheep don’t have such prominent horns.  But it’s my sheep, so it has big pastry-like horns!  Bleeh!  I am also thinking about doing a chocolate brown recolor.  I’m always amazed at the fair how nice the chocolate brown sheep’s fur is.  It looks very rich and extra warm.

Economic Crisis Fatique

I hate to say this but I’m tired of hearing about the US/World wide economic crisis.  The whole thing has become so big that it’s become almost meaningless.  I feel like the underlying truth is the the US is bankrupt, but if that was ever admitted then this whole sham would fall leaving us with the unknown.  What blows my mind the most is that it seems the govt’s solution is to print more money — and yes, that’s what this $700-billion “loan” amounts to since there’s no new asset to back it.  And then Wall Street goes nuts about the plan one day and then after thinking about it, sags the next.  And then none of what’s proposed will help anyone who is about to lose their house.  I’m exhausted by it all.  I’m exhausted because it’s frustrating because I can’t do anything about it other than exercise my vote and hope that the next set of governement officials is smarter than the current set.

So what happen to the idea of the “Jubilee?”  You know, every 75-yrs, all debts get erased and everything gets reset.  Hahaha, of course, there’d be no point seeing as how the folks that got us into this mess (everyone) are always looking for a way to game the system … sigh … In the end, I guess this more of a social problem than a money problem.  Everyone likes the ride up, but nobody wants to pay for it in the end.  So tired … I wonder what it would be like if it all went to heck.  Strangely, enough, thinking about the idea of a Jubilee, our crisis now closely coincides with ~75-yrs since the melt-down of 1929.  Hahaha, … maybe the idea came from the natural cycles within human society.  You know, about every 75-years, the slate needs to get wiped clean because that is how long it takes for economies to expand and then go to heck due to corruption.  I’m glad the FBI is now involved.  Perhaps their presence will contain potential schemers from acting now.  $700-Billion is a big chunk of money, even if it’s just printed paper.  I’m sure various parties are thinking of ways to get their chunk of the bonanza.

WiHD to be Featured at CES 2009

hmm … so, supposedly WiHD is a technology that will free your living room from wires by wirelessly streaming HD content to devices within a 10-m radius of a transmitter (it won’t deal with those pesky power cords, though).  According to this article the signals can’t go through walls or metal, rather the signals will bounce off the walls and your head in every direction.  Because it is omni-directional, there won’t be any line of sight issues and there’s DRM too — sigh … well, whatever.   Oh, and they claim they can jam two HD signals from a signal transmitter for PIP and dualview (3-D and two images from the same display for gaming) Hopefully, there is some education put out there well before this goes wide so people understand what WiHD is.  I’ve seen too many things like this fail because manufacturers can’t explain the technology to consumers effectively.   Consumers are having a hard time with the analog to digital conversion and many don’t understand what it takes to have an HD household.  Sigh … the poor consumer.   Here’s a link to the article for more information.
